A note from the Couple
The Old Hall was the first wedding venue we looked at. There and then we both fell in love with it.
Such an amazing place, we were blown away with how well organised everything was.
All of the staff were attentive and knew just how to handle everything, and all our guests commented on what a wonderful day it was including how smoothly it went.
The Wedding Day at The Old Hall Ely
On a stunning Saturday morning in June, it was Rachel and Martin’s big day at The Old Hall Ely. The day began with Rachel arriving at the venue for hair and makeup alongside her two daughters, who were bridesmaids. Behind the scenes, the events team were assisting the florist and ensuring everything ran smoothly with the set up.
The Groom, Martin, arrived at 12pm to get ready in our Cathedral room with his best man Matt just before the house bar opened and guests began to arrive!
Onto the celebration, the drinks reception! Pimms were served, fitting perfectly with the joyful, summery vibe of the day. The couple also decided to have a gin bar on our Cathedral Terrace with a refreshing selection of gins such as Pinksters and Rhubarb and Ginger. Canapes were served, with five stunning options for guests, including Mini Yorkshire Pudding and Glazed Chipolatas with Honey and Mustard.
Once the couple had relaxed and had a lovely time with their friends and family, the wedding breakfast was announced as guests moved over to our Marquee for the line-up so they could individually congratulate the newlyweds. The wedding breakfast was served with a stunning three courses of fine dining dishes. These included, Curried fish cake, slow cooked beef and chocolate brownie.
The couple and their guests danced the night away on our spectacular dancefloor and took a break for a unique nacho bar! The bar closed and guests headed off, apart from those who were delighted to head back to their luxury hotel rooms for a well needed restful night. Photography by Michelle White.
