Lauren & Tony
A unique fun fair themed wedding on a stunning summers day at The Old Hall Ely, Cambridgeshire.
1st July 2022
A note from the Couple
Tony proposed when he took us on a private boat tour around the lake in Disney world Florida (our favourite holiday destination) and got down on one knee on the boat in front of the magic kingdom fireworks display, I nearly jumped out of the boat in shock.
We already had another venue in mind, but went to view The Old Hall Ely after seeing them at a wedding fair and fell in love with it immediately.
The Wedding Day at The Old Hall Ely
The groom and some of the wedding guests spent the night before at The Old Hall Ely to ensure their big day got off to a fantastic start. The morning of the wedding, Lauren arrived in the most exciting way, by helicopter!
The bride, alongside her fabulous bridal party made a real entrance before heading up to our Cromwell suite to begin getting ready.
Once everyone was ready for the day, guests began to arrive and enjoyed Hugo’s cocktails, as chosen by the couple before the ceremony began.
The ceremony was held at our garden pavilion, on a stunning summers day overlooking Ely Cathedral and our beautiful grounds, as Lauren walked down the aisle alongside her father. After Lauren and Tony said their I do’s, the drinks reception was in full swing to celebrate!
With a unique theme of a fun fair, there were traditional games and fun whilst guests enjoyed drinks and canapes of ceviche seabass, pumpkin arancini, shepherd’s pie croquette and Welsh rarebit.
Lauren and Tony also went for dragons popcorn and alcoholic candy floss, elevating their unique celebration further, which created a truly memorable day for the couple and their guests.
The wedding breakfast was announced at 4pm as guests moved into our stunning marquee which was decorated with white and sage green florals. Speeches were made by the father of the bride, the groom and the best man followed by the wedding breakfast.
Lauren and Tony chose a delicious menu which consisted of confit duck bon bons, slow cooked smoked beef and our special spiced apple crumble for dessert.
After the stunning three course meal, The Old Hall gin bar arrived and continued the celebration! The couple cut the cake and our secret dancefloor was revealed for the first dance, creating a show stopping moment.
