On Sunday 9th January we hosted our winter open day. The day was a lovely opportunity for couples, their families and friends to see the venue and enjoy a glass of prosecco whilst getting some inspiration from a variety of local tried and tested suppliers. We were delighted to see many of our existing couples back to see the venue again before their big day and book in with some of our suppliers. It was also lovely to see so many new couples and help them take steps towards planning their big day.
Guests were welcomed with complimentary prosecco, hot drinks and orange juice as well as having the opportunity to sample canapes and brownies made by our incredibly talented catering team. We were also joined by a host of amazing suppliers, each one tried and tested by our brides and grooms here at The Old Hall. Dean Maudsley entertained our guests (and staff, yes – we watched lots, no – we still don’t know how he does it!) with mesmerising magic acts, Boujee music live performed with their ‘Uptown Showdown’ band and Cambridge wedding services provided the fantastic disco set up. Sweet treats and garden games (which are just as much fun inside as outside) were enjoyed from Dolly Dimples weddings, the most instagrammable cakes ever came from Crowland Cake Creations and our very own sweet cart (available to hire from The Old Hall) made sure everyone had plenty of energy to enjoy the day.
For those who hadn’t yet thought about how to capture all the emotions of their big day, two amazing photographers; Thomas Ellwood photography and Fountain photography provided lots of inspiration and examples, offering two uniquely different, beautiful photography styles. Meanwhile Mike Savory, videographer, gave our couples more food for thought about how to relive their day and an opportunity to meet the man behind the lens!
If it was wedding styling, flowers or centrepiece inspiration our couples were looking for they were spoiled for choice. Heidi Appleyard’s stunning floral centrepiece creation was gorgeous whilst Emily Tallulah flowers provided wonderful inspiration in our pavilion and a creative centrepiece in the marquee. Meanwhile Rose and Thorns delivered a different, beautiful take on floral centrepieces, alongside some wonderful welcoming blooms throughout the house, all giving our guests some distinct ideas for their floral styling. Styled by Lulabelles provided additional variety with gorgeous table styling, place names and a centrepiece in the marquee, alongside a variety of beautifully elegant chair sash examples.
Finally, for our brides who were yet to say yes to the dress, or any bridal essentials for the big day, Jitka made to measure delivered on inspiration with stunning dresses and accessories welcoming our guests as they arrived at the event. We also had the lovely Hannah from Kiss and Make Up (who also got married here with us!) to help everyone feel amazing on their big day with her lovely makeup services.
