Dan & Lucy
A Summer Sunday Wedding Filled with Laughter and Love at The Old Hall Ely.
23rd July 2023
A note from the Couple
I grew up in Ely and remember when The Old Hall started being renovated. I would always say to my Mum, ‘wow I wonder who lives there?’ Since then, I always dreamed of getting married at the Old Hall.
We came for a private tour and instantly fell in love. It was everything we had imagined and no other venue we looked at even came close
From start to finish the staff at the Old Hall were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and they had thought of things we had overlooked. The planning process was so easy and our questions were answered so quickly.
The day itself was a fairy tale. When we arrived, everything was done! There was NOTHING for me to have to think or worry about. The staff allowed me to enjoy the morning of my wedding with my beautiful bridal party.
The whole day was a military operation, without anyone knowing. The staff made everyone feel relaxed whilst still making sure everyone was on time. The food was sensational, and the staff were so attentive. All of our guests commented on how spectacular the venue was, most saying they had never been to a wedding like it.
The staff at the Old Hall made our day perfect and we will never be able to thank them enough!
The Wedding Day at The Old Hall Ely
Dan and Lucy had a truly unique day, with extra special touches that made their day fill with fun for all of the guests! Starting off in the morning of the big day, Lucy arrived at 10am to meet her hair and makeup artist at The Old Hall Ely, whilst our team worked behind the scenes to set up the marquee.
Lucy spent the morning in the Cromwell Suite and a sandwich platter with Organic Cava arrived to the suite for her five bridesmaids, to start the day off right! Dan, the groom, arrived to our Cathedral room at 12pm with Coronas and Lime to enjoy with his best men; Tom, his best friend and his brother Steven.
Our house bar opened at 1pm as guests arrived ready for the ceremony to begin at 2pm, outside at the Pavilion. Lucy was walked down the beautiful aisle by her father and the couple said their “I do’s” whilst overlooking the magnificent Ely Cathedral.
The drinks reception was now in full swing at the Cathedral Terrace whilst the newlyweds snuck off for their stunning photoshoot with Michelle White, taking full advantage of all the gorgeous photo locations we have.
The wedding breakfast was announced at 4pm and guests moved into the marquee for a stunning three course menu including duck leg rosti, chicken supreme and raspberry Bakewell. Speeches were heartwarming and fun, from the Father of the bride, Dan the groom and the best man alongside prosecco for each guest to toast.
After the delicious food was enjoyed by all, the coffee station was inviting before the cake cutting commenced. Dan and Lucy had their first dance to “You” by Dan and Shay as the starlit, secret dancefloor was revealed. Guests enjoyed dancing and the evening food offering of fish and chips until the night ended at 1am, when those staying could retreat back to their luxury bedrooms for a comfortable night stay!
