Start the night off at 6.30pm with welcome drinks of sparkling punch before heading into our permanent marquee for a stunning three course meal. Our starlit dancefloor is revealed at 9pm with a professional DJ as your entertainment for the evening whilst you can enjoy our cocktail bar. The party sadly ends at 1am, with guests departing. However, if you wish to elevate your night, why not retreat to one of our luxury bedrooms and make the most of our visit to The Old Hall Ely

New Year's Eve Party

Celebrate the start of 2025 in style with a night you’ll never forget! Over the years we’ve hosted incredible New Year’s Eve party to celebrate the past, present and future with fabulous guests from near and far. Our black tie, adults only New Year’s Eve party is the most memorable way to celebrate yet another great year!

The Marquee

The permanent marquee at The Old Hall Ely has a grand feeling with immense views of our grounds and Ely Cathedral through the floor to ceiling glass. Hiring the Marquee is a great idea for any event, from large scale awards ceremonies, company parties, conferences and much more!

The Terrace Room

This room is an ideal meeting room to hire and is perfect for boardroom style presentations and meetings as well as private dining events. The Terrace Room is a private room with sophisticated interiors and doors that open directly onto our terrace, creating a fantastic break out area.

The Lakes is a multifunctional room that is ideal for workshops, meetings, private dining or as a supporting breakout room for larger events. With links to our Orangery and house bar, we can shape this room to suit your needs.

Our Grounds

The Old Hall Ely is set within ten acres of manicured grounds, featuring three ornate lakes and breathtaking views of Ely Cathedral. Our Gardens are a fantastic open space for team building exercises, summer parties or workshops.

We also have two beautiful terraces, each with its own features. The Cathedral Terrace looks out onto Ely Cathedral and is popular amongst our guests for hosting drinks receptions whilst our Topiary courtyard is also a well loved space for drinks receptions as it has direct links to our indoor spaces, creating a fantastic indoor-outdoor setting to host your event.

The history behind Mother’s Day is interesting, many of us have wondered why do we celebrate Mother’s Day? Back in 1907, Anna Jarvis actually founded this special day due to her mother’s involvement in Women’s groups to promote friendship and health. In 1907, she held a memorial service for her mother and this important day of appreciation began!

At The Old Hall Ely, many of the inspiring Women are Mothers and as we are a family business, we value this day greatly.

Our talented team of chefs have curated a range of locally sourced, fresh fish dishes which you can enjoy with some delicious wines, that have been carefully chosen to pair perfectly with your dish.

To choose from our delicious selection of starters is a difficult decision to make! Just to name a few from our unique menu; enjoy seared king scallops, pickled apple, smoked lobster bisque and apple foam or go for our delicious dish of Cromer crab and plaice squid ink tortellini, oak Bacchus, apple, dill and sea herbs.

Moving through to mains, our chefs have perfected an exciting variety for our guests to enjoy. Go for our steamed mussels with garlic, parsley, white wine cream sauce and baked bread or choose our sticky soy, ginger and honey glazed tuna steak, Israel cous cous with pickled cucumber, sesame dressing and Bok choi.

Room for dessert? Dive into our incredible rhubarb and ginger meringue tart with hazelnut ice cream and tuille. Choose our stunning maple and pecan glazed éclair with vanilla and Biscoff cream as well as pumpkin seed oil ice cream.

Valentine’s Set Menu at the The Old Hall Ely

Are you looking for the most romantic restaurant to celebrate Valentines, a Valentine’s set menu or a nice restaurant near Cambridge? Then the Orangery restaurant at The Old Hall Ely is the perfect place!

As we are a wedding venue, we know how to celebrate love! This year, our chefs have been working on an extra special Valentines menu which will be served in the most romantic setting. Overlooking Ely Cathedral, our restaurant is truly magical and when paired with excellent dishes and service, The Orangery is the perfect setting to spend Valentines.

Starting off with a complementary glass of organic cava, which you can enjoy by one of our cosy open fires, move in to the restaurant to begin your dining experience! Our menu begins with a delicious offering of starters from smoked duck carpaccio, Romanesco, fennel and hazelnut dressing to steamed mussels, garlic, parsley and white wine cream sauce with baked bread.  

Moving on to main courses, our chefs have perfected a range of unique dishes. Just to pick a few of these stunning choices, enjoy 6oz Lamb rump, Lamb fat potato, wintergreen salad, garden pea and mint puree and lamb sauce or seared Cornish cod, squid ink gnocchi, textures of broccoli, smoked Oyster mayonnaise and roasted corn.

For puddings, we have a romantic sharing dessert of trio of chocolate including chocolate and espresso delice, chocolate and pistachio tart and chocolate and cherry macaron. Don’t feel like sharing? Enjoy a stunning classic with a twist, white chocolate profiteroles, vanilla cream and raspberry textures, to end your evening with a delicious dessert.

Evening Sharing Boards at the The Old Hall Ely

Our brand-new sharing boards are the perfect way to spend an evening, with a glass of wine or one of our specialty cocktails. Enjoy our Cheese, Charcuterie or Seafood boards which are ideal for sharing or as a delicious dinner for one.

We have just launched three delicious sharing boards for our guests to enjoy! Perfect for colleagues or friends to pick at whilst spending some quality time together. Our boards are also available for just one person, making them the ideal dinner for those staying with us for business.

Starting off with our cheese board which features a stunning range of delights! With three English Cheeses, a selection of crackers and chutney this board is a traditional English treat. Our chefs have added exciting additions to this board with a honey glazed figs, sun blushed tomatoes, cheese and onion quiche and home baked olive and herb bread alongside truffle butter.

Our charcuterie board is a delightful treat for our guests with a selection of cured meats, a slice of pork pie, a scotched quail’s egg as well as salt and pepper crackling. If you’re looking for Charcuterie board ideas, our chefs have it all figured out! Added delights such as home baked white bread with garlic and herb butter, apple, grapes and fruits, chutney, mixed nuts and pickled onions elevates the board further.

Finally, our seafood board is a delicious addition to our menu. Seafood is obviously the main attraction, Saithe of Norfolk smoked salmon is locally sourced alongside sardines with tabasco, smoked mackerel pate and fresh king prawns. To accompany, pick at baby beetroot, black pepper and lemon cream cheese, apple and grapes, sun blushed tomatoes, pitted olives and home baked beetroot bread and juniper butter.

All of our sharing boards can be upgraded with a warming bowl of soup of the day for those that wish to elevate their dining experience further.
